"My inspiration has always been " THE NIGHTINGALE OF INDIA " , Sarojini Naidu, whose poems have imbued great enthusiasm in me to write poetry. Her fearless and undaunted courage has given me a resonance of a woman 's empowerment. She is an edifice in my life who always motivates me. The more I read her poems, I'm immersed into a paradise of poetry." - Somdatta Mitra
"Versatile Indian Dancers"
Somdatta Mitra
Versatile Indian dancers propense to beguile ,
Wearing silk sarees like barbets in a brine.
In a bevy with bated breath ,
They synchronised the body gestures being adherent.
Unabashed to express the umbrage with eyes ,
Their enigma in various gestures were so divine.
Their neat plait with flowers spelled a conjuration ,
Their golden armlet spawned adulation.
With the netti chutti studded with kundan allure with admiration,
Their subtle smiles augmented a spectacular interpretation.
Of folk tales and traditional life style ,
Of fables and ancient history.
The citation of exemplary courage ,
Of kings and the demons's repugnant scourge.
With magnificent expressions they astounded the gallery ,
Like the killocks their firm faith abated complimenting their steps.
Their oblivious smiles have the semblance of an opium ,
As they signified a magical fragrance of mystifying rose.
Their florid cheeks and glorified expressions appealed ,
The ornaments that shone over their voluptuous bosom.
Connoting emotions of despair and melancholy ,
Bouncing and prancing with expert finesse.
They sensitized with a striking agglomeration ,
Their gentle rhythms and tender feet.
