Obra Maestra - Today's Brilliant Contemporary and Modern Artist for Literature: Sir Muhammad Rahal

Sir Muhammad Rahal, a multifaceted luminary hailing from Algeria, is a man whose life is defined by a boundless passion for art, poetry, and cultural preservation. Born on May 19, 1992, in the city of Al-Aber, Muhammad grew up in a unique tapestry of rural and urban influences, which would later become the cornerstone of his creative journey. His rise to prominence as an academic, artist, poet, heritage researcher, songwriter, and media ambassador is a testament to his unrelenting dedication to his craft and his community.

From an early age, Muhammad’s connection to his heritage and culture became apparent. Growing up, his grandfather, a captivating presence in his life, would sing the soulful verses of Al-Malhoun poetry during special mornings and evenings, embedding in young Muhammad an enduring love for this art form. These early exposures nurtured his spirit and sowed the seeds for what would later flourish into an extraordinary journey as a poet and heritage advocate.

Muhammad began his academic pursuits in 1999, eventually enrolling in the College of Management at Oum El Bouaghi, where he focused on urban structures and successfully graduated in 2015. While these years were dedicated to academic development, his passion for poetry and artistic expression lay quietly simmering beneath the surface. It was in late 2016, after stepping into professional life, that Muhammad fully embraced his calling as a poet and began writing with purpose and intent.

The turning point came in 2017, a year that would mark the emergence of Muhammad Rahal as a prominent figure in popular poetry. Inspired by the poetic traditions of his region and drawing influence from iconic poets like Hajj Yunus bin Sultan, Saad bin Al-Hajj, and Ahmed bin Abdullah, Muhammad cultivated a voice that was uniquely his own. His deep reverence for cultural and literary heritage shone brightly in his work, resonating with audiences far and wide.

It was also in 2017 that Muhammad participated in the Douz Festival, an event that introduced him to poets from across Tunisia. Among them were luminaries like Najib Al-Dhibi, whose artistry left a lasting impression on him. This experience opened doors to a broader world of poetic forums and radio sessions, where Muhammad’s talent and eloquence captured the hearts of listeners. His debut radio appearance, guided by media professor Muhammad al-Zein Rabiei, marked the beginning of a journey that would take him to countless cultural and literary stages.

Over the years, Muhammad’s presence in Algeria’s cultural arena grew exponentially. As a representative of the state office of the House of Poetry, he became a key figure in organizing and participating in poetry evenings, cultural demonstrations, and literary forums. His poetic voice enriched more than 14 cultural activities in the “In Light” series alone, alongside countless other events that celebrated the fusion of poetry, art, music, and cinema.

Muhammad Rahal’s artistic contributions extend beyond the realm of poetry. As a songwriter and translator, he has explored various forms of expression, creating bridges between languages and cultures. His role as the editor-in-chief of Arab and optional media magazines reflects his commitment to fostering dialogue and creativity in the literary world.

A defining moment in Muhammad’s career came when he was awarded an artist card, becoming the first poet in his city to achieve this distinction. This recognition was further underscored by his registration of all his literary works with Algeria’s Ministry of Culture and Arts, solidifying his legacy as a prolific contributor to the nation’s cultural tapestry.

Muhammad’s academic contributions are equally remarkable. With over 20 academic studies on popular poetry and a dedicated series exploring the creative and vivid aesthetics of his own work, he has become a respected voice in the field of heritage research. His studies, published in national newspapers and Arab magazines, offer valuable insights into the depth and diversity of Algerian poetic traditions.

His poetry has not only gained national acclaim but has also found a place on the international stage. Muhammad’s participation in numerous festivals and competitions across global markets underscores his universal appeal as a poet and cultural ambassador. Whether in Tebessa, Bir El Ater, or abroad, Muhammad Rahal’s voice continues to resonate with audiences, transcending borders and uniting people through the timeless beauty of his words.

At the heart of Muhammad’s journey lies an unwavering commitment to his roots. Through his poetry, he empowers the next generation of poets and preserves the heritage that forms the bedrock of Algerian culture. His work is not just a celebration of art; it is a reflection of his identity and a call to safeguard the traditions that define who we are.

Muhammad Rahal’s story is one of inspiration, resilience, and artistry. It is the story of a man who has dedicated his life to the pursuit of beauty, meaning, and connection. His journey reminds us that poetry is not just an art form but a powerful force that can unite, heal, and transform. As a poet, heritage researcher, and cultural advocate, Muhammad Rahal has left an indelible mark on the literary world—a legacy that will endure for generations to come.

"My Sweet Heart"

By: Muhammad Rahal

My sweetheart, I love her, how could I not?

I still love it

I do not forget

You showered me with excitement and compliments

She wears an ivory crown

Delicate to be placed by the weaver

I love you, you are the love of my heart.

how can I forget you ?

And you missed me

We hope that you will come to me after a long separation

Crying tears

And she sheds

I stayed up all night after you

By candlelight

Without going back and complaining

The lover suffers

Don't go back, and going back is your passion

And you will always remain in my heart
